Everything You Need to Know about BOTOX
There are lots of questions and perceptions around the use of BOTOX. At Subtle Beauty, we’re all about debunking myths and delivering real results. We have gathered the answers to some popular questions below.
If you can’t find your question below feel free to contact us, and we’ll be happy to help.
Who would benefit from BOTOX injections?
Those who wish to prevent or reduce fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes, mouth, and forehead. In our 20’s and 30’s, we can prevent permanent wrinkles from forming. Our 40’s and beyond are when these lines become more permanent. The use of BOTOX smooths out these lines and prevents the formation of new ones. Unlike fillers, BOTOX cannot correct sagging skin or volume loss.
How does BOTOX work?
BOTOX blocks certain nerve signals that cause muscles to contract. The muscles relax and the overlying skin cannot wrinkle. Over time, new nerve connections form, restoring muscle contraction and skin movement.
How long does BOTOX last?
Everyone metabolizes BOTOX differently, which affects the duration of its efficacy. The average person will begin to regain movement of their muscles in about 3 months.
How much does BOTOX cost?
The cost per unit can fluctuate, however, Dr. Emily prioritizes keeping her costs at a very competitive level for her clients. She is a board-certified Doctor of Dental Surgery with extensive training in facial anatomy. All BOTOX injections are performed by her. She individualizes the total dosage depending on each client’s unique facial anatomy. Dosage and pricing will be discussed with you at your complimentary consult appointment. She also partners with the rewards program Allē, runs periodic pricing specials, and offers a discount to new clients and existing clients who refer a friend!

Can I go to work or be in public after a BOTOX treatment?

How often do I need BOTOX?
Everyone metabolizes BOTOX differently, which affects the duration of its efficacy. The average person will begin to regain movement of their muscles in about 3 months.
What does a BOTOX treatment feel like?
Injections are performed without anesthesia because most describe it as feeling like a quick pinch. The procedure is very quick and usually takes only a couple of minutes.
What can I expect from my first visit?
Your complimentary consult is a time for Dr. Emily to get to know you and your aesthetic goals. She will answer any questions and concerns and provide you with a realistic expectation of what BOTOX can do for you and the cost of treatment. If you feel ready to take the next step, Dr. Emily can administer BOTOX during your consultation and treatment appointment. Or, when the time is right for you, she is happy to schedule you for a future appointment.
Is BOTOX right for me?
Men and women choose to invest in different professional services and products to enhance their natural beauty. Professional hair services, makeup, skin products, nail care, and fashion are examples of common investments we make to help us feel beautiful and confident. BOTOX is no different. If you value keeping your skin healthy and beautiful for years to come, there is no shame in inquiring if BOTOX is right for you. Dr. Emily will review your health history with you to make sure you are a good candidate to receive BOTOX.
When will I first notice the results from BOTOX?
The beauty of BOTOX is its gradual onset and offset. It takes 3-5 days to begin to notice softer facial movements. The full effect is achieved between 7-14 days. At around three months, you will see a gradual increase in facial movement again. Once you regain movement, you know it is time for another treatment!
How many treatments do I need?
The body naturally regenerates nerve connections and metabolizes BOTOX over time. You will always retain the ability to flex and move these muscles. BOTOX can, however, relax and weaken these muscles over time. When you regain full movement, wrinkles may become less intense or require less units/frequency of BOTOX in the future. Treatments can be discontinued at any time, and eventually, your muscles will regain full movement and strength.
Can BOTOX help with jaw pain and headaches?
Yes it can! BOTOX can treat TMJ or TMD pain by relaxing the jaw muscles. BOTOX can also prevent tension headaches and migraines by reducing tension and cutting headache days in half after two treatments! Learn more about therapeutic BOTOX here.
